ABOUT US

Throughout its history, the City of Seven Hills has seen many esteemed individuals leave a lasting mark, both in this community and elsewhere.  A governing body has been established to celebrate and recognize these individuals from Seven Hills.

In 2013, the Seven Hills Hall of Fame Founding Governing Body was formed under the direction of former City of Seven Hills Mayor George Chandick. The Founding Governing Body is composed of Mr. Chandick as Chairman, Vice Chairman Eric Van Horn, Secretary Catherine Reed, Public Relations Director Craig Rehner, Treasurer Mike Diederich, Jen Burger, Al Lippucci, and John Predina.


On October 15, 2013, the Founding Governing Body’s proposal for the Hall of Fame was approved by the City of Seven Hills Council. The Founding Governing Board then moved forward to appoint a Hall of Fame Selection Committee to be led by the Vice Chairman of the Governing Board as stated in the Proposal. The Hall of Fame Selection Committee was appointed in November, 2013 and is composed of Vice Chairman Eric Van Horn, Jerri McDonnell, John Dougherty, Jen Katzakis, Mark Martin and Pam Mussig.


The City of Seven Hills Hall of Fame will have two areas of inductees. The first area is Athletics and will recognize individuals for outstanding achievement in their field of endeavor. This category will include Baseball, Basketball, Bowling, Boxing, Fencing, Figure Skating, Football, Gymnastics, Golf, Handball, Hockey, Martial Arts, Soccer, Track and Field, Wrestling as well as other sports not mentioned. The second area falls under Arts and Humanities. This category will include Architecture, Art, Dance, Film, Media, Music, Philanthropy, Science, Theater, Writing as well as other arts and humanities areas not mentioned.

Induction to the City of Seven Hills Hall of Fame will occur every two years and alternate between the two areas. The first inductions were in 2014 from the area of Athletics.  In 2016, individiauls were inducted for their accomplishments in Arts and Humanities.  The number of inductees into the Seven Hills Hall of Fame will not exceed 5 members every two years.

Acceptance of applications for nominees will begin in January 2018 and will end on May 1st, 2018. The selection committee will have until June 1st to make the selection of the inductees for the first inductees in the area of Athletics.

 

The announcement of inductees will be made at the City of Seven Hills Home Days which takes place the last weekend in July 2018.
